Remembering Nan

Today would have been my Nana's 87th birthday. She died in Sept this year- the day it snowed in Chch actually. She was from a different era!! Never drove a car or wrote a cheque herself. I tried to explain email to her once but she clearly had no idea what I was talking about. When I said you wrote a letter on one computer and could read it on another computer in another place she must have been imagining a manual typewritter and a fast mailman. Instant didn't compute! But we still had lots in common and I wish she hadn't lost her memory before I matured enough to ask her more about her life. We miss her lots

Getting ready for Christmas ...

When Beky sees the decorations up around town she says ... look mummy they are getting ready for Christmas too. We searched today in Chch city for one that had something to do with the nativity but a star was as close as we got. Until we found the nativity sets in Ballentynes and she was more excited to see a baby Jesus than she had been about all the Santa's. This is of course a girl who last year thought a real baby Jesus would be in our house on Christmas morning. It made me wonder if the "wonder" of it all is not more when its less obvious, when you have to look a little. I remembered all those tacky Jesus figurines you see in South American countries.

There are so many ways to "get ready for Christmas" here is one great place to start

Isn't it ironic

That Kate Shepherd's statue (she was the suffragette who won the vote for NZ women) in Christchurch city is directly across from the Canterbury club that only a year ago allowed women to be members. And that the tram drivers can repeat each story directly after each other every day and not laugh.

Letting go of a dream

I think letting go of a dream is like pulling apart a beautiful flower. I though the last petal was the hardest part until I got to the heart of the flower and couldn't split it

Think Red

Need some inspiration this Christmas

Jesus your ultimate gift guru

The Kingdom, the Kingdom where everyone gets forgiven

Is anybody out there....

I must say after wanting to do this for months I am now a little nervous!! I guess you get used to talking and not knowing who is listening. Its kinda like learning to pray or praying at those times when you are not listening too well to the other side of the conversation. Lord I believe - help me overcome unbelief. He says - I will never leave you or foresake you - so here goes ....
