Mark Inglis and Da Vinci Code

After a few weeks of just turning up to coffee group without much plan or inspiration this week I had two topics floating around my head!! And so I am back blogging again too …

We talked about Mark Inglis’ achievement and the media reports of the English climber who died. The comments that most stood out to me were from Rob Hall’s wife – “not to point the finger if you were not there” and “it’s the trying that counts”. Beky had made me laugh though when she saw Mark Inglis on TV and said “Mummy I saw a man skiing on his bones”. May we be inspired to reach great heights despite the obstacles and to have wisdom to know when to help others.

We are off to see the Da Vinci movie together next Friday – email me if you would like to come along.

Remembering how they were made

I was moaning to myself while looking in the mirror
About all those wrinkles and looking old
Beky piped up "Don't worry mummy,
Some people might laugh at you but I won't"

It made me laugh
I hope there are more made that way than by frowning

Fairtrade paraphrase

During the last fortnight of fairtrade publicity I came across a verse in James 5:4 that I have paraphrased to reflect today's injustices

Look the wages you failed to pay the people who grew the beans to make your coffee and chocolate, who sewed your clothes and made your plastic products are crying out across the seas against you. The crys of the growers, machinists and production line workers have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty

May we continue to respond to such crys
